Reunion Video by Richard Bollwerk, CGC 1970-72
I put together a short video of the special "behind the scenes" event that a few of us were privileged to have at last Friday evening's parade. I am talking about Sgt. Major Stockton taking ten of us back on 9th street to watch the marching companies warm-up prior to the parade. Several of us got to visit with the young Marines of A Co. & B Co., and watch them run through the parade commands. Finally, and of MOST IMPORTANCE to those of the Reunion Association, I was able to video the Sgt. Major's rousing, motivational speech - during which he honored ALL OF US who served at the Barracks in past years. It will make everyone proud to have been there ... and may even give you goosebumps. I was fortunate to have the Color Sgt. of the Marine Corps touch my arm at the end of the speech, which is why the video was a little shaky after that. All in all, I think you will enjoy the 5 minute video. I uploaded it to YouTube, and this is the link:

Second, I was also fortunate to get moved to better seating for the evening parade. I sat in row 2, of section 1 south. I filmed some key sections of the parade, including most of the Silent Drill Platoon's routine. The new "meat grinder" and the "snap shot" routine are awesome, and those sitting at the far south end probably did not get to see it. Therefore, I am editing and putting together a professional quality, HD DVD of the parade which I will make available to any association member who wants one, free of charge. I would only need them to send me postage fees in order to get a copy. I will provide more information to you about obtaining the DVD next week. The DVD will include more of the pre-parade warmup footage, along with the video taken during the parade. FYI, parade video includes the introduction of Sgt. Chesty XIII and Pfc. Chesty XIV, and all of the Pass in Review!

What a fantastic time we all had getting together. I am enclosing a photo taken out front of the barracks on Friday, May 17, 2013. I was chatting with a couple grounds-personnel when I spotted a young lady walking a bulldog. I inquired and said gee that looks like Chesty the new dog. One of them said that was correct. She approached and I was able to pet the new recruit. I told Christine (wife of dog handler) I did not have a camera. So she let me hold the leash and took this wonderful photo. I did see the picture in the lobby of the hotel but was not able to show to all. Now you get to see what it looked like. Thanks to Mrs. Christine J. Mosser for giving me this honor.
