PER MARIO SILVESTRINI: "Far left is Sgt. Murphy (joined in 1937/38, won Navy Cross as Tech Sgt. in Korea, left Barracks in 1950 as a SSgt., was in the Color Guard normally), Marine in tall period hat is unknown, Marine in center of picture with only his face showing is Roger Barthlow (retired as a MSgt. in mid-70's, was a good friend and I visited him in 78 or 79 when I was stationed at the Naval Academy, he passed away in 1987), Marine at right-front is Sgt. Al Phifer, from Baltimore (wearing the 4 Coastal Defense patch which was eliminated in 1948, joined the Corps in 1937 and was Drum Master for the Percussion Section of D & B at this time), and Sgt. Chris Stergiou, performing as a bugler at this time."

Bass Dr. Wislowski, Gene Belschner, Ray Myers, Joe Kelly (passed away in 1958), on cymbals is Stephen 'Hook' Mascisak, Lou Rich, Lou Lansberry, Tom Walsh, and Montez on Bass Drum. Check out those sharp- dipped covers will you."

"This picture was taken on one of the first TV shows. I think it was called McMurray's 'Black Outs.' era ... late 40, early 50. That is SSgt. Chris G. Stergiou on the left ... probably on his second tour at the Barracks; he was a very talented musician."

D & B was in utilities w/barracks caps, practicing what looks like the British "Slow March." WO Chris Stergiou on the left observing the dress and positioning of the formation. His comments, in ink, were placed on the Bulletin Board for the troops to see. That is Bob Hughes (1956-1961) just behind the Bass Drummer; he was previously assigned to the Color Guard at 8th & I and joined the D & B Corps in 1959. Bob played the trumpet.
